Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko is confident
that European expert commission will help Ukraine to protect its reputation of
a reliable transit state of natural gas to the European Union countries. She
stated after talks with Czech Prime Minister Mirek Topolanek.
According to the Head of Ukrainian
Government, international experts will have an opportunity to become acquainted
with all necessary information, data of measuring instruments, this will allow to
ascertain whether there were breaches on the part of Ukraine of gas transit to
Europe. “I am confident that conclusions will be objective and evidence that
Ukraine took not a gram of the Russian gas without contract but at the same
time realized gas transit to Europe without hindrance,” the Prime Minister of
Ukraine noted.
Yulia Tymoshenko believes that experts’ conclusions should be
public, “I want the conclusions to be made public and Ukraine to protect its good
name”.
As the Head of Government said, Ukraine pins
big hopes on monitors as this would allow to resume
gas transit to Europe. “This is our hope because we want the EU countries to
feel comfortable, to have natural gas. And all problems to be
removed. This is our hope on experts of the European commission,” Yulia Tymoshenko underlined.
At the same time the Premier noted that
Ukraine and Russia should independently pass their way regarding the price
formation and transit tariff, “We have to work out strategic approaches to
solving these issues which remove such problems for all. I
believe, there is a chance”.
Moreover, Yulia Tymoshenko stated that Ukrainian side is ready to ink the
Russian version of a protocol of mutual access of experts to the gas inflow and
outlet stations based both on the territory of Russia and Ukraine. “In such
mirror version, when Ukraine and Russia have equal rights for experts’
admission, we’ll sign such protocol as soon as possible and there are authorized
persons for it – Vice Prime Minister Hryhorii Nemyria, Minister of Fuel and Energy Yurii
Prodan and Head of the NJSC Naftogaz
Oleh Dubyna,” the Prime
Minister of Ukraine emphasized.
