Development of agricultural cooperation is the priority task for Ukraine's government


A burning issue for the government today is the determining of a clear policy on social and economical character of agricultural co-operatives and their priority functions in the sphere of the development of agro-industrial production. Minister of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine Yurii Melnyk stated at a meeting chaired by the Prime Minister of Ukraine on the development of agricultural cooperatives.  

“The development of the agricultural cooperation, access of villagers, farms to the market of agrarian output is the government’s priority,” Yurii Melnyk said, Cabinet's press office reported. 

According to the Minister, the government has worked out a number of draft bills on assigning an unprofitable status to economic service cooperatives, improving the legislation on the formation and functioning of wholesale markets of agricultural output, determining the directions and mechanisms of public support.

Besides, the Minister also worked out a target program on the development of the agricultural cooperation.

Yurii Melnyk stressed that a mechanism of the people’s awareness, in particular, with the assistance of agricultural advisory service had been developed.
