The Health Ministry of Ukraine pointed out a fall in the number of flu and acute respiratory virus infection cases, First Deputy Health Minister Vasyl Lazoryshynets told a news briefing, according to UKRINFORM.

“The number of patients is decreasing. The downward tendency is observed every day,” he said noting if earlier up to 160,000 new cases of the disease were fixed a day, now it is 35,000 - 50,000.

The deputy minister also said the number of people taken to intense care wards reduced by 115, and those undergoing artificial ventilation of lungs by 5.

Yet, he emphasized, the epidemic situation has not yet returned to normal.

“To my mind, it is necessary to prolong the quarantine,” he said adding the last say is with the chief health officer.

As of November 9, the number of flu and ARVI patients was 1.031 million, the health ministry reported.
